About me

History of kazari-maki sushi

The word “makizushi” appears in the cookbook “Ryori Sankairo” published in 1750. Then in 1776
] ``Spread Asakusa seaweed, pufferfish skin, or rope on the blinds, place the rice, line up the fish, and roll the bamboo blinds.''
As you can see, today's style has appeared.
"Futomaki sushi", a local dish born in the Kazusa region in the eastern part of Chiba Prefecture, which is rich in the blessings of nature such as the sea and mountains.
The technique has developed independently, and it is now served at ceremonial occasions in the area.
It is called 'Kazari-zushi', 'Hana-zushi' and 'Matsuri-zushi'. Officially, it is often called "Futomaki Matsuri Sushi".
As the name suggests, it is served at celebrations.
